One of the main thrusts of this Blogout09 event was social media in the enterprise. I think businesses should use social media for lots of good reasons, for example to support internal training and KM initiatives. I also think that social media provide a variety of means for engaging customers in fulfillment, after-sales support and marketing communications.

The reason why it is hard to see social media playing a significant role in B2B is simply evolutionary. Openness must come first, then internal social media adoption, then B2C engagement, and finally B2B collaboration. But business aggregators like trade associations and shopping malls should start now to leverage B2B social media.
