BlackBerry Q10_01

For BlackBerry die-hards who are still firing away e-mails everyday on their phone’s keyboard, the new Q10 is the device they’ve been waiting for.

This is the one with the familiar, easy-to-use keyboard and it is built like a solid and dependable – if rather less sexy – corporate tool that many had first come to know BlackBerry for.

Singapore’s football fans will be relieved the ref has got a crucial decision right on Wednesday evening.

Ignoring SingTel’s pleas of innocence, the country’s media regulator clearly told the team in red to show the next three seasons of the Barclays Premier League on rival services, such as StarHub’s cable TV, starting in August.

In a landmark ruling, it essentially laid out how it will deal with pay-TV operators that have somehow found a loophole in its efforts to open up the market and rid it of ruinous exclusive content contracts that have killed consumer choice for years.

HP ElitePad 900

The arrival of touch-screen tablets and other designs with screens that flip, turn or rotate has not revived the fortunes of the ailing PC market.

Instead of providing a much-needed reboot, these Windows 8 machines may actually have made things worse by plunging the market into its steepest ever decline, according to research firm IDC.

Like many critics, I’ve been cool to the unveiling of Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 last month, after rivals such as HTC had raised the competition a notch.

Getting my hands on it, however, gives me another perspective. Actually, the much-awaited flagship in the Galaxy line doesn’t feel as flimsy as its predecessor.

Yes, it’s plastic – or polycarbonate, as the Samsung folks in Singapore insist – but it doesn’t feel that cheap.

Surface_RT_26

Months after it first appeared in American stores, the much-talked about Microsoft Surface RT finally made it to Singapore over the weekend.

It’s a first for a couple of things. It’s the debut tablet from Microsoft and it uses the first Microsoft operating system made just for tablets - Windows RT.

In the end, the Surface RT is just going to split opinions. It’s got so much going for it, yet it is limiting in ways that can be frustrating.

HTC One_01

By now, you’ve probably read a lot about the HTC One, the phone that every geek is telling you to check out.

Solidly built with a sleek metal frame and endowed with a great camera, it has not failed to impress reviewers who have tried it out, as I did during a recent hands-on test.

Now, after using the phone for more than a week, I can say it’s surely one of the best phones out there, if not the best. It’s got issues, for example, with the pretty finish chipping off, but I’m been very impressed in other areas like battery life and camera.
