Just over two weeks ago, Bioware released Mass Effect 3 extended cuts in late June, a free DLC for Mass Effect 3 in reaction to all the hate and flak that they got for the game’s terrible ending.
It wasn’t even on my radar to replay the last missions and see the new extended cuts, given that a ton of new games came out (Civilization5: Gods and Kings, and Endless Space) that I haven’t even had time to play that much or review them.
I thought I was finished with the game in March, which left a bitter taste in my mouth on the game’s endings.
But a fellow gaming buddy highly suggested I go back and try Mass Effect 3′s Extended Cut out. “It’ll change the way you see the game,” he said.
Mass Effect 3 is a Bioware title that needs no introduction to RPG gamers — it is one of the biggest blockbuster games to come out in 2012.
It is the capstone to a stunningly envisioned sci-fi universe, and has legions of hardcore fans who love the lore and stories of the Mass Effect universe.
I consider myself one of them, having completed Mass Effect 1, 2 and now 3, spending in excess of 120+ hours finishing the main storylines and selected DLCs. This was an unmissable game for me.
My preference for games has shifted over the decades.
As I get older, I have less time to play games, and my attention span has gotten shorter as well.
I still play a ton of games, but I probably play as much casual and indie games — like niche titles like Sequence and Runespell Overture — than triple-A PC titles.
However, I still keep an eye out for triple-A titles that I am interested in. 2012 is a bumper year for some highly anticipated titles for me, and below is a list of the top five PC games I’ll definitely try out this year.
