It’s a question that many new Mac users ask – how do I run Windows programs on my new shiny machine?

One way is to run Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac, which gives you instant access to any Windows programs right next to your Mac application. Unlike Bootcamp, you don’t have to reboot the machine. With Parallels’ Coherence mode, you can even run your Windows programs like they are native Mac apps.

Those are some of the key features that have attracted users such as Hu Jiaming. The Singapore Management University (SMU) student has been a Mac user for six years, many of those spent switching across with Windows programs seamlessly.

For his schoolwork, Parallels Desktop has proven to be invaluable. For example, some projects require Visual Basic in Excel, which is only available for the Windows version. Parallels Desktop lets him do run the Windows version of Excel on his Macbook Pro without a hitch.

“I always liked Macs,” said the 26-year-old information systems undergraduate. “Now I get the best of both worlds.”
