Ampere
Here’s another local invention worth your support – Singapore start-up Novelsys is looking to raise US$60,000 in a Kickstarter campaign that will fund the production of Ampere, a portable charger that promises to bring wireless charging to all Android smartphones and iPhones on the go.

The 2,700mAh Ampere has enough juice to help users get through their day without dealing with messy cables, using the Qi wireless charging technology. A slim receiver will enable wireless charging for Samsung and iPhone devices.

The Ampere gets juiced up via a micro-USB port while a boost adaptor allows phones to be charged at four times the USB output of laptops via a wired connection – perfect for those moments when you need a quick charge.

With its smartphone app, users can track the charging progress of their phones and the Ampere itself, down to the minute. This is made possible by its Bluetooth Low Energy support, a first for any portable charger on the market.

In addition, the app would be able to track the location of both your phone and the Ampere if you misplace either of them. New features will be added based on users’ feedback, the company added.

Novelsys also took pains to avoid the pitfalls of other crowdfunded projects by lining up their manufacturing partners in advance. The only missing piece of the puzzle is the pre-orders that will arrive when the campaign opens.

Pre-orders for Ampere will launch January 15 on Kickstarter at an estimated cost of US$79.
