Pioneer has unveiled its latest in-car entertainment systems, including the AVH-X5850BT multimedia receiver that lets users play FLAC files via a USB drive or Bluetooth-enabled smartphone.

Before this, one could only do so by playing the files on a smartphone, before piping the audio to a receiver via a headphone jack. The ability to play FLAC files from a direct source like a USB drive allows consumers to enjoy the best audio quality possible.

Additionally, the AVH-X5850BT supports the Spotify music streaming service, by letting users browse, search and select songs directly from the receiver after pairing a smartphone installed with the Spotify app.

With music streaming becoming more popular, it’s a matter of time before more car entertainment receivers such as the AVH-X5850BT begin to support services like Spotify.

The 7-inch screen of the AVH-X5850BT will also be put to good use when paired with Pioneer’s GEX-2850DVB2 TV receiver.

With dual antennas installed in front of the car, the TV receiver is able to receive digital TV signals from MediaCorp uninterrupted, even while travelling at more than 100km per hour.

The AVH-X5850BT receiver costs S$899 and the GEX-2850DVB2 TV receiver is retailing at S$549.
