With less than a month to go before National Day, Singapore’s Big Three telecom operators have rolled out their traditional freebies for the festive period.

Singtel’s postpaid mobile customers can use as much mobile data as they like for free on August 9, the country’s largest telco said last week.

If you’ve been using Wi-Fi to keep costs low all this while, this is when you can stop worrying about logging on to a network all the time. Just remember to turn Wi-Fi back on as midnight looms.

M1 users actually get a better deal. The telco one-upped Singtel yesterday by giving away not just mobile data but also free calls and messages on the nation’s 51st birthday.

Not to be outdone, StarHub is giving its subscribers 1GB of additional mobile data free, for use for the entire month of August. So, if you have a 3GB plan, you’ll use up this free 1GB before you start consuming what you usually have.

The big bang of SG50 may be over, but thankfully, telcos have kept to their usual free TV channels over the National Day period.

If you have Singtel and StarHub on your TV, you’ll get to watch a number of free channels during the celebratory period.

Singtel is opening up more than 140 channels from August 5 to August 9, while StarHub viewers get to watch more than 100 channels from August 5 to August 11.
