Singapore Airlines (SIA), Singapore’s national carrier, has inked a multi-year deal with telecommunications provider Tata Communications to enhance the airline’s communications and collaboration capabilities to boost user experience and employee productivity.

The Tata Communications GlobalRapide platform promises to enable SIA users to stay connected globally at any time and from any location.

In addition, Tata Communications’ Izo SDWAN allows SIA to route client calls intelligently to its global customer service centres, for a seamless customer experience. Tata Communications and SIA have been working together for the past five years.

In addition, Tata Communications will power the SIA pilot and cabin crew collaboration systems, giving the crew access to a global and always-connected experience.

Compared to traditional data roaming solutions, this Move solution uses global intelligent cellular connectivity to significantly reduce costs while enabling a rapid and secure exchange of vital flight and passenger data on pilots’ and crew members’ tablets. This expedites flight turnaround times and improves on-time performance.

“As a global commtech player, we are privileged to be chosen as [SIA’s] partner in progress as they emerge stronger than ever and strive to create new benchmarks in customer experiences,” said Amitabh Sarkar, vice president and head of Asia-Pacific and Japan for enterprise at Tata Communications.
