Singapore owners of selected Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets will be getting the latest One UI 7 from the Korean electronics manufacturer from April 14, starting with last year’s flagship model, the Galaxy S24.

The new interface, already out on this year’s Galaxy S25 phones, promises to be more streamlined and make information access easier and more intuitive to users.

The Samsung Now Bar, for example, provides important real-time updates on the lock screen. Users can check their morning run progress and see what song is playing in their Galaxy Buds – all with a simple swipe and without unlocking their phones.

Some of these features, of course, require you to log in to a Samsung account to enjoy. For that trouble, users also get Samsung’s Galaxy AI, which promises to simplify everyday tasks and minimise the need to switch between applications.

One feature, AI Select, can recommend actions to users by understanding context on the user’s device. For example, a user can simply swipe the Edge Panel and click the “AI Select” icon when watching a video to save it as a GIF file. Writing Assist, meanwhile, allows users to easily summarise or automatically format content from selected texts.

For folks who want to create stuff during “down time”, Drawing Assist helps create images by combining text prompts, images or sketches. At the same time, Audio Eraser makes advanced editing accessible for all, by isolating categories of sounds and removing unwanted noise in videos.

The new interface also has deeper integration with Google’s Gemini AI, which is available with a simple long press on the device’s side button lets. Users can simply speak and provide their prompts, and Google Gemini will pull up recommendations in one seamless interaction.

Yes, if you’re thinking of Samsung’s Bixby AI assistant, which preceded all these AI phones in recent years, you might be happy or sad to see it go. The good news is that much of the AI features are more closely integrated into the interface through UI 7.

The new interface will be available to older devices which go back to the Galaxy S21 series launched in 2021, though Samsung hasn’t detailed the time frames for them. If you own one of the following Samsung devices, you can expect the software upgrade:
