As more consumers use their mobile devices to search for locations of cafes, retailers and other amenities, it becomes even more important for businesses to ensure their contact details are found easily.

Yet, most consumers still find incorrect or outdated contact information on the Web. As a result, they may lose trust and confidence in a brand or business, especially if they get lost because of bad directions from wrong location information.

Conttact.us, a Malaysia-based start-up, aims to help businesses nip the problem in the bud. Its cloud-based contact card software allows businesses to create a mobile-optimised “contact us” webpage, complete with information on opening hours, instant click-to-call buttons and travel directions.

“Many contact-us pages are not mobile-friendly and cannot be found easily on search engines,” says conttact.us founder Choong Kar Fai. “Worse still, they may contain incorrect information that may frustrate consumers who end up in the wrong place.”

But can’t consumers search for business contact details using Google? While some information listed in Google search results is correct, the majority is not. The information is often pulled from other websites that may be outdated, insufficient and inaccurate, Choong says.

“For your branding needs, it’s only important that your current or potential customers get your official conttact.us card with information reliably created by you,” he says.

Without any marketing, conttact.us has already attracted over 100 beta users from the United States, United Kingdom, Russia and Malaysia since its launch about a month ago. The service is currently free, though businesses may soon need to pay to integrate their conttact.us page with their websites.

Choong is also building an Application Programming Interface (API) that third-party directory services can use to retrieve the latest contact information. If his four-man team manages to pull things off, conttact.us could become an authoritative platform for contact information that websites like HungryGoWhere, Yalwa and even Google can tap into.
