An enhanced app from an employment agency now promises to enable part-timers to find a job in just three hours by simply scanning a QR code with their phones.

Unveiled last week, the QR code feature from YY Hong Ye Group will contain all the necessary details, such as the type of job needed and the hours required.

The company had launched its part-time employment app last year to match employers and part-time workers. The lack of manpower has been an issue for Singapore’s food and beverage (F&B), retail and cleaning sectors because of tighter restrictions on foreign workers in recent years.

So far, the YY Hong Ye app has registered 98,000 users, whose ages range from 16 to more than 60. They respond to impromptu jobs that may arise when companies seek to augment their full-time staff.

This new QR Code feature on the app, according to YY Hong Ye, will help reduce the time taken in the recruitment process, making it simpler and faster to get jobs filled.

Employers can use the app to list their job vacancies, and they can also specify job details such as time, place, and other criteria, such as relevant skills and years of experience, according to a YY Hong Ye spokesman.

“The app has an algorithm that ensures only relevant candidates are matched with the employers,” she said.

From here, the app will automatically execute the matchmaking, and then notify both the part-timer and employer when there is a successful match. If both parties accept, the employer can then make interview arrangements with the candidate.
