Earlier this month, Techgoondu ran a story on why Motorola has stuck with Android 2.1 with their latest Defy smartphone. This has since attracted a number of concerned replies from users on the site.

The Motorola folks have since come back with a statement that says it values feedback and to stress that the Defy is upgradeable to Android 2.2 within the first half of 2011:

“Motorola values its customers and their feedback is extremely important to us. We continue to evaluate our products and services to ensure that we bring enhanced experience to our customers on the right platform.

“Defy was launched as a sturdy, affordable and reliable phone with unique water and scratch resistant capabilities, as well as dust-proof features that offer better speaking quality in noisy environments. Defy is upgradable and the 2.2 upgrade will be available within the first half of 2011.”

it is upgradable, but they didn’t say when it would be upgraded… I am impressed with their products, just hope the upgrade comes as promised. After sales is good so far, had my milestone keyboard replaced. Was looking forward to the defy, liked the rugged aspects of it!

Good for them! Least it’s looking like they haven’t done “an HTC” like with the Wildfire. Will users ever get 2.2 on the Wildfire? Who knows…

Right, Defy will get upgrade to 2.2 when others move on to 2.3 or better. Haha

I still have a Moto Milestone waiting for Froyo. Getting extremely impatient. Android is moving too fast for these mobile phone companies.
