Vivo has just shown off its new flagship smartphone – the X80 Pro – at a Lazada tech bazaar at Plaza Singapura in Singapore.

At first glance, the X80 Pro resembles the X70 Pro, including the colossal camera array that takes up half the smartphone’s back.

There is a good reason for this. The new smartphone has a 50-megapixel sensor with a f1.57 aperture lens, a 48 megapixel wide-angle with a f2.2 lens, a 12-megapixel portrait camera and a 8-megapixel periscopic lens camera. The circular design of the camera array immediately reminds you of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

The camera system is co-engineered with Swiss lens maker Zeiss, so it has a certain imaging pedigree that makes this smartphone an exciting proposition for avid shooters.

Some interesting imaging features that promise to bring some life to your pictures include Zeiss Cinematic Video Bokeh, AI Video Enhancement, Zeiss Professional Portrait, Zeiss Superb Night Camera and Zeiss Natural Colour.

Vivo has also touted its new imaging chip, the V1+, which promises to improve photo and video image quality. Expectations are high for imaging for this new phone, so stay tuned to our review in the coming weeks.

Upfront, the smartphone uses a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen that refreshes up to 120Hz, though this setting can be lowered automatically to conserve battery power. Even with the bright sunlight streaming into the mall during a media event, the smartphone’s screen is vibrant and visible.

Notably, the X80 Pro is Vivo’s first smartphone powered by the zippy Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Also in the package are 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space, which will ensure content creators have enough processing power on the move.

The Vivo X80 Pro is retailing at $1,699 in Singapore and is available for pre-order now.
